MAEA elections for the 2020-2022 council were held in November of 2019. Thank you to our members who are currently serving or have served in the past. Past leaders, teachers like you, donated their time and energy in part because they acknowledged the vital role of MAEA to the success of visual arts educators statewide. I extend an invitation for MAEA members to consider generously serving on council. Regard the benefits of developing leadership experience that will aid your classroom, community, and professional life.

MAEA council, the elected and appointed organizers of MAEA, transition every 2 years. The elected council is made up of President, Past-President, President-elect, treasurer, secretary, district representatives, and division representatives. Many council members decide to run again or stay on in their appointed position. They act as mentors for new council members.

I do encourage MAEA members who have not served and may want to stretch their leadership muscles to contemplate participating on council. Your active roll can perpetuate our growth and vitality. I believe this type of leadership will foster your professional confidence. As with any election, I hope you will consider your options carefully and make an informed decision.
